Yesterday in response to another article I had written about working at home for people in their fifties and sixties, I got a number of comments that others felt the same way about starting new careers and were using the Internet to do so. They seemed to be very happy to see that someone else held opinions similar to theirs and was attempting to do the same thing.
Then it struck me that there must be a lot of people out their who are struggling with retirement and the wish to stay active, continue earning a living, and do something worthwhile and creative with their lives.
It can seem pretty lonely when suddenly the job you have been doing for many years is no longer there, when you no longer have an office to go to, and when your normal daily work routine suddenly stops.
It would be nice to know that many other people are going through the same type of lifestyle altering events. It would be nice to know what other people are doing to deal with this major change in their lives, how they are creating new careers, and what they are doing to stay active and do something constructive.
To today’s active new middle-aged group retirement no longer means no longer working. It means changing the nature of the work that you do. It means finding a new direction. It means taking charge of your life.
Sometimes starting a new career can be the opportunity to follow your own special interests that you may not have had the ability to concentrate on before. Sometimes it means being able to work at your own pace from your own home. Sometimes it gives you the luxury to be free to do whatever you feel called upon to do.
No one can force you into retirement. No one make you do or not do something. You have reached a stage in your life where you can live life on your own terms.
Maybe what we need to do is to start a community of like-minded people who consider themselves part of the new middle-aged group and are ready to start a new career. Maybe we can help each other find the answers we are searching for together as we make a fresh start.
If you would like to help build a community for the new middle-aged group, and
participate in a new beginning please share your comments with us at my blog at:

Well stated, and I couldn’t agree more. I know of so many senior citizens living on fixed incomes that would really benefit from their own website. Many of them that are in their late 70’s and into their 80’s are computer literate enough to be able to get out of the rut of living from one social security check to another. One friend in particular is my best friend’s mother. She is a widowed pastor’s wife, and is living with her daughter outside Atlanta, GA. I would love to to be able to give her a “little push” to get started. Then there are those who sit on the computer all day sending e-mails and forwards to their friends, discussing their money woes. I feel sorry for them, but in a greater sense I have to think, “They can’t see the forest because there are too many trees in the way.” If we could collectively motivate them and they could see for themselves, what the possibilities are, they would no longer have to struggle. In fact, I truly believe it would give them a new zeal for living life to its’ fullest! ProfitMart would be an awesome resource for retirees.

Looked at your site. If only I could do that (O I did but not as well as your) it looks great! Us old people over 50 can take lessons from the under 50 group. I had to do something with my time. I could not get a job because I was over qualified (too old) so I piked up my desk top as it were and started learning about IM and the 21st century. I ask my granddaughter and son to help me and they were ready to help. With out knowing anything about IM all of a sudden I was a web master. Places like Profit Mart and others are ready and willing to help with out taking advantage of you like some other scams. There are People out there that really want to help. I encourage any war baby or baby boomer to look into IM it is fun and like any other job you have to work at it to be successful yea put me down I am of the age.

I am one of those babyboomers too, born right after the war. Sometimes I feel like an odd person among the people in my agegroup - not so many have been even interested in owning a computer but I am seeing a little progress now. At least a computer is practical for writing - easy to correct mistakes.
I am also happy to have a place to practice the English language.
I saw that Retirement Package page and it looks really great. I have only written a short article about home working but so far I have no idea how to place all those extra graphics there. I hope to find out sooner or later..:o)
It is great to find others in the same age group who are doing these things and I am going to learn a lot from you, I´m sure of that!!

Well here we go I too am past that 7-10 job of working and raising a family now they are gone and here I am waiting for the days to pass so I can see one of my 5 granddaughters or some days all of them at once. In the mean time I occupy my days waiting to put in our Organic Fields of veg. to us and fellow customers, who want to know where their food is coming from. It’s about time the rest of the world has began to see the light. We have been on our organic farm for 27 yrs. and when we said no to chemicals everyone said there is no such thing well now what. I think we can now grow for others also. I have tried to compose a homepage for 4 months now and here goes. check it out. http://www.freewebs.con/rerorganics/
